Login/Logout

After you create an account, you should receive an email (make sure to check your spam box) with a temporary password. Point your browser to www.thermofluids.net or thermofluids.sdsu.edu. Right above the login block you would find the link change password. Use it to change your password instantly. Now use the new password to log in. The Guest Mode should turn to Evaluation, Academic, or Professional mode (based on your account status). Note the Logout button on the task bar at the bottom. When you are done with a session, make sure to log out; otherwise, you may not be able to log in from another computer.

Of course, if you are running TEST installed in your computer from a CDROM, there is no need for logging in. However, you may still need to access the web portal for using the Forum and to check out the latest version of TEST.

The login block should display your name after you log in.

Animations

Click the Animations module on the task bar. Select a chapter, say, Chapter 15 and then on Sec. B, High Speed Flows. Animation 15.B.machWave should start playing. Note that the animation size scales with your browser window size. To view the animations in their original size, have the Original Size checkbox checked. The space bar and the Enter key can be used to step through the slides if the short cut box is checked.

If you do not see the control bar, your browser has Javascript turned off (the default settings for most modern browsers allows Javascript). See Troubleshooting section below to find out how to activate Javascript in your browser.

If the animation does not appear, your browser does not support Flash. In the Troubleshooting section below, read about how to install Flash.
Tables/Charts
Quick launch: tables and charts On the left column of the home page, Click on the icon named Tables & Charts. Alternatively, click on the Map link on the task bar, and then on the node TESTapps.Basics.Tables & Charts. This should bring up a list of tables and charts. Select one, say, the superheated steam table. A formatted table should be displayed.
TESTapps
Quick launch: unit converter To check if your browser is set to run Java applets, start with the simplest of all TESTapp, the unit converter. On the left column of the home page, click on the icon named UnitConverter. Wait for up to 30 seconds (the second time you load a TESTapp it will take a much shorter time) for the unit converter TESTapp to be displayed as shown below.

If you see a security message or a gray box appears, or nothing happens, , your browser does not have the required java support. Jump to the Troubleshooting section for instructions on installing Java and setting permissions in your browser to run Java applets.

After you make the Unit Converter work, try a few more TESTapps by going to the TESTapps module and clicking the States & Properties > Uniform Systems branch. The perfect gas state TESTapp should load in less than a minute. As your browser caches important files, the loading time should decrease noticeably for the TESTapps you use frequently.
